The inshore bite around Palm Coast and Flagler Beach continues to be productive as summer patterns settle in.
Tarpon have started showing up in better numbers, with smaller tarpon holding in creek holes and providing plenty of action on light tackle. The flounder bite has been especially good over the past couple of weeks, with most fish being caught on the flats and creek holes.
Snook fishing remains steady in the creeks and on the flats. Topwater plugs early in the day and soft plastic jerk baits have been producing consistent results. Redfish and flounder have been holding along the river banks, while plenty of ladyfish, jack crevalle, and mangrove snapper are keeping rods bent throughout the area.
For bait, a jig head tipped with shrimp, mud minnows, or finger mullet has been working well and producing fish for my clients.
A quick safety reminder: we have caught a few scorpionfish around the inlet recently. Be extremely careful handling any unfamiliar fish and avoid touching them, as their spines are venomous.
